Significance

Rituals & Traditions
- Fasting during the day (nirjala or phalahar)
- Performing Ganesha Puja with modak, durva grass, and red flowers
- Reciting Ganapati Atharvashirsha and Sankashti Chaturthi Katha
- Sighting the moon in the evening to break the fast
- Offering coconut, jaggery, and 21 modaks to Lord Ganesha
